Hiraeth - creating a sense of belonging and connectedness

One of our core aims when we opened The Hours back in 2010 was to create a warm, welcoming and inclusive meeting place to enjoy good food and drink; good literature and art in good company. This sense of 'belonging' and connectedness borne of the Welsh 'Hiraeth' has stayed with us over the years and is something we extend to our work beyond the the physical wonky green shop too...

We are proud to work in partnership with kindred folk like The Good Life Experience which takes place at The Hawarden Estate in Flintshire from September 12th-15th. The festival, started by Cerys Matthews and The Gladstone Family, last year introduced a Welsh Cultural Hub to proceedings and we were asked to host 'The Pen Bar Lag' alongside the brilliant Punk, Archaeologist, Historian and Author Rhys Mwn.

In October we pair up with world-renowned violinist Rachel Podger and her Brecon Baroque ensemble, who hold their Brecon Baroque Festival in the town each year bringing musicians from all over the world for a four day musical extravaganza - for which The Hours hosts a pop-up restaurant/cafe at the Old Museum.

In the meanwhile, our summer is full of supper clubs, foodie gatherings, author events and art exhibitions, and of course, preparations for our own Brecon Fringe Festival which runs alongside the annual Brecon Jazz Festival which is now in it's 36th year.

Come along and see us... we'd like that.
